Bangladesh – Renewable Technology Opportunities for Women

Opportunity for Women in Renewable Energy Technology Use in Bangladesh. This was initiated in 1999 with 5000 from ESMAP as a project in Char Montaz, a coastal island in Bangladesh, with technical assistance from Prokaushali Sangsad Ltd (PSL). South Asia Partnership, Bangladesh, an NGO provided initial support in social mobilization and micro-credit. The project provided skill and renewable energy technology training to 32 poor women in Char Montaz and assited them in establishing the Coastal Women’s Electrification and Development Microenterprise, which now has become a SME with 117 employees. Diversification: Initially, it was assembling of DC lamps and providing services through battery charging station. Now the SME has moved to assembling CFL and LED lamps, controllers and inverters of solar home system (SHS) and mobile phone chargers. It has provided SHS to almost 30000 households, small enterprises and markets in coastal areas, where grid electrification is not a feasible option. The lessons from this project was taken into a larger project: Bangladesh Rural Electrification and Renewable Energy Development (0m). In this project, nearly 200000 SHS are provided to poor households in remote areas. Grameen Shaki, Srijani, TMSS and other NGOs learnt from this project and made micro-finance available to the poor households for SHS. The World Bank

this video-I will say it is a good one with all the real life information about bangladesh.

the country is improving faster than that of earlier prediction or forecasting.
about it’s emergence among other south asian nations is remarkable.

in micro-credit bangladesh has already got global recognition with nobel prize.

bangladesh’s inncreasing investment in the renewable energy sectors is to face the probable global-challenges.

Bangladesh is most populated country in the world. It also hold record for most disastrous calamities. The religious stupids in Bangladesh should preach to reduce population growth and contribute to growth of a nation. Are you listening, bastards.

I have heard this problem with local imams b4 with other projects.. there is nothing haram at all about learning skills to support your families through halal means.. these “traditionalist – fultoli” idiots know nothing about the deen & hold back the development of the country even more than the corrupt goverments & officlas who line thier pockets with aid money ment for the destitiute… I hope they all drop dead.. To educate a mother is to educate a people “kids, grand kids & so forth”

naziur, smash the doors of those who preach to have more children. For your information bangladeshis are the cheapest workforce in Gulf countries. Wake up and do something which u r nation needs., simply answering like a dog does not bring good to your nation. wake up.

This shows its possible in any circumstances BUT yet again there are at two things here that are proven to hold back progression – religion trying to suppress women even though it was over come in this instance and the other is Money. There is enough technology for all people on earth to have a very high standard of living in a resourced based economy. Money is nothing more than modern day slavery that is the cause of all problems made by man, from pollution, war to separation of class.

With education and changes of mentality for people to finally realize this will be the time we will start to be free, I am not speaking of a Utopia i am speaking of a time to wake up.
Technology is not something only for scientists, as proven here its something we can all learn as we do every day in some way to progress by.

its funny how first they show pics of woman working and making baskets ect then she says the men in the villege said woman shouldent work. whats the interent on the loan (micro credit) for the lamps? we in the west dont use solar tec because its to expensive but in the 3rd world they can pay for it with micro credit? banks are out to make money they do not have the interests of the poor at heart you will see things like this back fire when they cant pay back the money.

@seshagiri66 dont get sucked into the reduced population idea, its bullshit. all children are a gift from god and if he give you 100 then he knows you can cope with it.
