Does it Concern you that McCain’s Energy Policies could Destroy Alternative Energy?

It is impossible for the economy to pursue both oil and alternative energy. One will phase out the other. So McCain’s plan is to Drill, Drill, Drill. Basically he is signaling his support of the Oil companies and their continued dominance.

Yes it concerns me: drill, drill, drill amounts to treason.

Oil is a finite resource and drilling, according to the experts will produce heavy sour crude – we refine light sweet crude. McCain MUST know this, he advisers are not morons.

But, he is beholden to the oil industry. What has he promised them.

Now, he is also beholden to the extremist, radical right wing Palin represents: what did he promise THEM.

McCain sold out everything he formerly believed in to try to become President. McFaust may suit him better than McSame.

No, because they wont. How is it impossible for millions of people to not be able to pursue two goals? Just because your brain can’t handle doing two things at once doesn’t mean the entire collective society can’t either.

I can’t tell if he’s not really a McCain supporter in disguise.

Seriously, you guys need to stop feeding the troll and ignore his questions.

Oil is still needed. If we don’t attempt to drill, prices keep going up. We need to work on BOTH. Not just one. McCain has never said no to alternative energy. Please take the time to know what you are asking before you ask it.

You don’t know anything about McCain and Palins plan…

Alternative energy is the biggest part of the plan… drilling is included in the plan to keep the gas prices in check and possibly even lower them!

Yes, it concerns me greatly. It would be the same as if Bush/Cheney were still in office, with Obama and Palin. That is why we have to show support to Obama and Biden. We don’t want a repeat of the last 8 years, with 4 more years with McCain and Biden.

Yes,it does but even if they drill it doesn’t matter. The oil companies will sell us our oil at the world market price. The dumb Republicans think we are going to get a reduction in price. Why would they if China or India will pay more money.

We have to drill here drill now to get off of foreign oil, but at the same time have the big 3 research alternatives to better are future . It will take at least 100 years for America to drive around 100% in non efficient oil based vehicles.

We need to pursue alternative energy that can produce enough revenue that it can support itself.Once that happens and it isn’t a huge solar panel or windmill in my back yard it will be accepted.Oil will be slowly phased out, once a true alternative energy is discovered.

"It is impossible for the economy to pursue both oil and alternative energy."

    WHA?
Can I see some sort of source or support for this? That’s like saying it is impossible for the economy to support producing cars and boats, much less airplanes and trains, too! Yet we do.

It is not impossible and there are LOTS of PRIVATE companies pursuing both (and more) right now with no government help at all.

well maybe if we didnt have to spend so much money buying oil from other countries and instead, get it from our own country we could use that saved money to pursue alternative energies. either way i see alternative energies coming sooner or later. Realistically speaking you can only depend on oil so long before the costs outweigh the benefits. Half of the people out there saying (we want alternatives) probably dont even know what possibilities are out there.

McCain has always voted against alternative energy. During his campaign for the presidency, he will act like he will fix every single problem America has. He will try to cover up the fact that he voted 90% of the time for the same things that George W. Bush voted for.

That doesn’t mean Obama is an angel. He will lie. All politicians lie. But Obama is the candidate you want if you like alternative energy.

It concerns me even more, that people don’t realize that alternative energy has been around for decades now,and still it has to be subsidized by the government(which means it cant make a profit on its own,and must be government-ally forced upon us to use it)When there is no wind,or its cloudy, the energy companies resort to their back-up energy sources, coal and oil.Eventually ,maybe, the Hydrogen fuel cell would be a great alternative, but its still in its infantle stage(give it time) I scoff at Natural gas(its a by product of oil) and its found where oil deposits are(..and you still have to drill for it!)No matter if we do develop fully an alternative, guess what, they will become the new big bad guy!

No… because the real thing that is destroying alternative energy is the Dem’s that are in office right this very second AND those wacky environmentalists that don’t want solar panels built in the mojave desert because it "might disturb the wildlife"….

The government is not going to create alternative energy or drill for oil. Ultimately the market will dictate which is the most viable, and private companies will follow suit.

Alternative energy systems are not ready to be put in place…just switching from gasoline to pure ethanol will take 5-10 years..
wind, solar, and hydrogen are 20 years off..
if we started building nuclear plants tommorrow, the first one wouldn’t go on line for 10 years…….

you need energy for now, and the gap until those other things come on line…

better to drill our own wells and spend that 780 million we sent to saudi last year, in our own country…..

Yes, and the Dems put forth a plan to allow limited drilling today.(1.)

It does not really matter because the States have to OK the leases at least.
So no, no drilling in California big oil.
Probably many other States as well.
Why would CA risk their beaches and tourism so oil companies can make more money.
Most coastal States will say no I bet.

So much for Big John’s energy plan.

you mean alternative energy costs too much ? The only reason we want it is if we run out of oil ?

Technology keeps improving. As time goes by the cost of alternative energy systems will come down. By the time they get to be cost effective and in everyday use we might start running out of oil.

    Perfect timing.

Try this exercise. Look around the room you are in. How much oil do you see? carpet? –oil plastic? –oil paint? — oil What do you have in the room? How was it transported? Trucks –oil Planes? oil

Like it or not, we have an economy built on oil — solar power may seem cool but unless you are willing to pay more for your utilities, then oil and natural gas are the best our current technology has to offer. Someday, maybe we’ll have a good substitute but for the next 10-20 years oil is required.

So the next question is; Do you want to send billions of dollars to people who want to kill us or do you want to start using the vast resources this country has? 10 billion barrels of oil and 66 trillion cu ft of natural gas in ANWR, 4 billion barrels of oil in N. Dakota, 18 billion barrels in OCS and many decades supply of oil shale out west.

Believe it or not – I like and admire oil companies – they provide me and my family the fuel I use to get to work, and travel on vacation. They take a thick, dirty, sludge from miles underground, refine it and deliver it safely to thousands of convienent locations so that it is always available. A gallon of fuel is way cheaper than a gallon of shampoo, toothpaste, mouthwash and perfume!

Did natural gas get rid of Gasoline? Did diesel get rid of gasoline? Did nuclear power get rid of coal? No. There will always be a variety of power sources.
